The Carousel Hair & Tan Center has been in business since 1976. It has always been family owned and operated. When the salon opened in 1976 there were only two other salons, which have since closed. The Carousel Hair & Tan Center holds the title of longevity for Hair Salons in Round Lake. The Carousel was the first to offer indoor tanning in 1983 followed by many more as it became more popular. Laura (Herring) Lulofs opened the salon in 1976 and worked there until she retired to Florida. Diane has worked at the Carousel since 1976 and took over when Laura retired. They were co partners/owners from 2001 until 2003 when Diane became sole owner of the Carousel.
We offer a full range of licensed and professional services from “Baby’s first haircut” to senior citizens. Hair color, high lights, low lights, hair styling, waxing, and tanning are also offered.
We are affiliated with “Locks of Love” organization for children with hair loss, “Cut it Out” an organization for domestic abuse, “Shop Talk” an organization for medical testing, the Round Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, the Round Lake Area Library “National Card Sign-up Month” , “Character Counts” Middle School Program, food drives for the Avon Township food bank, and sponsor local benefits in Round Lake to help those in need.
